Hi, I am Alfonso. I am the one behind this blog. I was born and raised in the Catholic faith, where I was an active member. Not satisfied with this church, I explored other faiths but eventually became one of those frustrated by organized religion. I discovered that although love might be tolerant, absolute truth is narrow, and intolerant, while relative truth is too broad. What came as a surprise to me was to discover how little religion knows about God. That situation led me to seek answers outside institutional religion. This blog contains some of those answers. It also motivated me to write the book Your Problem with God. To write this book, I had to bypass religion and faith entirely and work out rational, objective ways to discover and understand God and his truth, which makes Your Problem with God truly unique and original in its approach. Rethinking God, relearning truth.
I have a technical background in computer programming, electronics, and electro-mechanical equipment design and repair, and a solid general education emphasizing technology and business. I have also been exposed to different cultures, where I could study how God influences each society. This combination of education and experience served me well for this blog and writing Your Problem with God. This book is based on the idea that God’s mind and personality are reflected in his creation. Instead of relying on faith and belief in the Information Age, I successfully pursued a knowledge-based approach to get reliable answers about God and truth.
Who is Alfonso? A true believer in God, a positively religious skeptic.
Why? Because God is the supreme deity, but religion is our often distorted assumptions, expectations, and beliefs about this deity.
What is my thinking? God – not religion, … Jesus – but outside of today’s institutional church.
Therefore, I practice skeptical theism. In the Information Age, I seek a connection with God driven by knowledge rather than faith.
